Following Toronto Sports: A Complete Guide to the Raptors, Leafs, Blue Jays, and TFC

Toronto is one of the few cities in North America with major league teams in every major professional sport. Here’s what you need to know to follow each of them.

Toronto Raptors (NBA)

Canada’s only NBA team won the 2019 NBA Championship — a moment that stopped the country. The Raptors play at Scotiabank Arena (formerly Air Canada Centre) in downtown Toronto’s entertainment district.

Tickets: Raptors tickets range from $40-$75 for upper bowl seats to $200+ for lower bowl. Ticketmaster is the official source; StubHub and SeatGeek have resale options. Games against Golden State, Los Angeles, or Boston command premium prices.

Watching without tickets: Many Toronto bars screen every game; the Rec Room near Scotiabank Arena is popular on game nights. In warm weather, Jurassic Park — the outdoor viewing area outside Scotiabank Arena — has been a Toronto institution for playoff watching.

Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL)

The most storied franchise in Canadian sports history — and one of the most expensive tickets in the NHL. The Leafs also play at Scotiabank Arena.

Tickets: Leafs tickets are notoriously expensive. Face value ranges from $80-$500; resale frequently doubles that for popular matchups. Season tickets are held by corporations and have years-long waitlists. For occasional games, buy resale through verified platforms.

Budget options: Watch at a sports bar (plenty in the Entertainment District); the atmosphere during playoff games in Toronto bars rivals arena experiences.

Toronto Blue Jays (MLB)

The Blue Jays play at Rogers Centre (recently undergoing significant renovation) in downtown Toronto. Two World Series wins in 1992 and 1993 remain the franchise’s peak.

Tickets: Baseball is the most accessible major professional sport in terms of ticket prices. Upper deck tickets start at $15-$30. A family of four can attend a Jays game for $100-$200 including parking and hot dogs — almost impossible with other Toronto teams.

Best experience: Summer afternoon games with the roof open (weather permitting) are one of Toronto’s great casual experiences.

Toronto FC (MLS)

Toronto FC plays at BMO Field on the CNE grounds — an excellent soccer-specific stadium. The team has been competitive in MLS, winning the MLS Cup in 2017.

Tickets: More affordable than the Leafs and Raptors. General tickets start at $30-$50; the South End supporter section is the loudest and cheapest. TFC supporters culture is genuinely passionate and worth experiencing.

Toronto Argonauts (CFL)

The oldest professional sports team in North America (founded 1873), the Argonauts play Canadian Football League games at BMO Field. CFL football is a genuinely entertaining sport that’s different from NFL — worth attending at least once. Tickets are affordable: $25-$80.
